January 2018 Book Recap & Review
1. Eat. Pray. Hustle. by Havilah Cunnington : This book is more of a bible study. I did this 20 day bible study (but took me about 60 days b/c I did not do it everyday and that is totally okay) by myself starting the beginning of September. I just left it in my purse and when I had about 25 minutes of random downtime I would dive in. I love a powerful story to get motivated and this story about Abraham did just that. My favorite part is that it helped me understand who the dream killers were in my life and how to remove them. Read it and jump start your 2018 with a powerful truth!
2. Wait & See by Wendy Pope : This book has changed my heart. I am very much so in a stage of life where I am “waiting and seeing” what God’s plans are for Sean and I and our family. There is something so special about truly finding peace in God’s pauses and plans in your life.
If you are waiting for God to bring you the “right one” read this.
If you are patiently waiting for God to bless your family and become a mother, read this book, it will bring you so much assurance in the time of waiting.
If you just got out of a bad relationship and are not sure where God wants you next, read this!
I promise it will change your heart if you finish this book. I have learned more so than ever not to doubt His promises for me.
3. Fiercely You by Gretchen Barocio : I LOVE this fun and easy read of a book. I am always looking for a great entrepreneurial / life coaching book and this one was my Q4 book in that category. I posted a couple clips of this on my instagram stories page a couple of times because it really helps with your view on social media as well. This book has also helped me learn that I should not judge someone by whatever chapter of their book of life I walked in on. It helps you grasp a better understanding of confidence vs condemnation and how you can support other woman. Especially in this world that we are living in right at this moment there is no better time than to support each other. Hating on someone is just not cute. We do not have to live in this wild world alone, team up, share, and let’s help each other out! It is very powerful and I encourage you to read it and team up with me to encourage other woman in life, business, and home! Grace not perfection!
4. The Best Yes by Lysa Terkeurst : I think I am a little late in finding this read, but it was nonetheless very perspective changing for me. I am very much a YES person and I always exasperate myself and overextend myself, if that is you, READ THIS! The disease of please is real y’all and we must not let it control our lives. Our most important YES should be to God first and the rest will fall into place. This book helped me realize how much more important it is to follow Him first and the rest of my hearts desires will follow. This is a #1 New York times bestseller and it rightly should be, Lysa is a fabulous writer. I have also read THIS book by her as well a bit ago and if you haven’t add that one to your list too.
5. I Don’t Wait Anymore by Grace Thornton : This is another “waiting” book I have read in the past year, but this book is about a different kind of “waiting”. If you had plans of what you wanted your life to look like and they haven’t happened that way or rather at all, this book is for you. I started reading this book around the time I met Sean and it was exactly what I needed to hear. It took “my dreams and plans” and helped me realize that God was in charge of those dreams and plans from day one. I learned a new perspective on what I had always “dreamed” for myself and what God had always “dreamed” for me. I learned how to let go of the expectations I had on myself and learned how to live a fulfilled life. I can happily share that HIS dreams for my life that I am living out right now are SO MUCH greater than what I thought I wanted and needed!
6. The Soulmate Experience by Mali Apple & Joe Dunn : This book will surprise you the most. It is more so a very secular book, but it changed my relationships. I truly believe if I wouldn’t have read this book I would not be married to my husband at this very moment, but God had his plan! I have read and reread this book 3 times now. The Soulmate Experience will teach you about a different kind of love. It will teach you how to thrive in your current relationship, or help you thrive in your personal life to find love, or thrive in your broken relationship to find restoration. I learned things about myself that I had no idea were holding me back from love and a thriving relationship. I have sent this book to so many friends to read because it truly can change your life, love, and rid you of expectations.
What I am reading now : Feminine Appeal by Carolyn Mahaney : I will report back on this one soon. This is a book about the seven virtues of a Godly wife and mother. One of my personal goals for 2017 was to spiritually mature in my role as a wife, sister, daughter, friend, and mentor. This book breaks down those virtues from Titus 2 and I can’t wait to dive in.
I would love to hear from you if you picked up a book, started reading, or more so saw God transform your world. If you haven’t noticed, almost every single book I read comes from a Christian perspective. I am not diligent with my quiet time every morning even though I wish I could say I was. I am very easily distracted in this world that we live in, just like you. Reading books that encourage me, strengthen me, and change my heart are what keep my walk strong and my heart thirsty for Him.

I’m reading Cultivate right now by Lara Casey. Really good and right along the lines of some of these. Uninvited by Lysa TerKeust is a really good one too! I have The Best Yes on my stack for next. 🙂
